Our Story

A Passion for Handcraft, Born in Asakusa

Recipefusionlab began in 2012 in a small workshop in Asakusa, Tokyo. Founder Yosuke Hashimoto grew up with a deep appreciation for origami and calligraphy passed down from his grandmother, and set out to make Japanese traditional crafts more accessible to contemporary audiences.

The word “kizuna” (“紙”) refers to a bond — the kind that connects people to one another and to culture. Making things by hand, sharing the experience of creating, and passing on knowledge are at the heart of what we do.

Today we offer products and workshops across six craft disciplines — origami, calligraphy, pottery, ikebana, Japanese weaving, and kintsugi — with participants joining from across Japan and internationally.

Our Team

Practitioners & Instructors

Our team includes a calligraphy master, a ceramic artist, an ikebana instructor, and an origami specialist, each bringing their own depth of knowledge and practice to the studio.

Every member of staff is an active maker. Because they continue to work with the materials themselves, they are well placed to select tools and supplies that are genuinely suitable.
